There are two options that allow you to use your current domain name with our hosting services:

"Update Nameservers Only"
Choose this option if you want to keep your domain with your current provider, you simply point your domain name to our Nameservers as instructed in the account activation email.

"Transfer Existing Domain Name"
Choose this option if you wish to move the domain over to us, this means we manage the domain for you and will be the ones who invoice you for the domain renewal when due.

Please read below for further information relating to the transfer process for your domain type:

UK Domain Names [.co.uk | .me.uk | .org.uk]
We do not charge for UK domain transfers and we do not charge if you moved your domain name away from us unlike some domain providers.

You must order all domain transfers using our secure online ordering system before having the current registrar change the IPS TAG. Even though there is no charge during the order process, you still need to order the transfer so that the billing system can add the domain name to your account to enable the domain to be renewed when due.

The transfer process for UK domain names is simple and can be completed in a matter of minutes but this all depends on your current domain provider. Once you have ordered the domain transfer using our secure online ordering system you need to instruct your domain provider to change the domain names IPS TAG to ours which is UKWSD, once this has been changed we have control of the domain and will be able to make any required DNS changes for you.

gTLD Domain Names [.com | .net | .org | .biz | .info]
All gTLD domain transfers incur a small fee, this will be charged at our standard 1 year registraion fee for gTLD domains as published on our domain registration page. This charge is made due to the registration life of the domain being extended by one year.

When you order a gTLD domain name transfer an automated transfer request email is sent to the domains admin contact, this transfer email needs to be authorised by the admin contact or the transfer will fail.

If you are not listed as the admin contact, it is recommended you make them aware of the transfer so that person can authorise it on your behalf. To speed up the transfer process we recommend that you have your domain provider change the Administrative contacts email address to ours which is domains@ukwsd.com, this enables to authorise the transfer for you ASAP.

Once the transfer process has been completed we will have full control of your domain name and will be able to make any DNS changes you require.

1) Make sure that you have access to the email address listed as the admin contact for the domain. Our transfer process is email verification based, so if your email address listed for the administrative contact of the domain is not current, the transfer will fail.

2) Make sure your domain name does not expire it is advisable to initiate your transfer at least 10 days prior to the expiry date, so there will be enough time to complete the process.

3) All gTLD transfers require an authentication code when transferring between registrars, you can obtain an authentication code from your current registrar (where the domain is currently registered).

4) We cannot transfer domains that are less than 60 days old. If you registered your domain within the last 60 days, please wait until after 60 days before starting a transfer to us.

5) Make sure your domain name is not locked at the current registrar. Please contact your current registrar to make sure there are no holds or locks when transferring your domain name (many registrars will automatically place a lock on the domain for security).

6) Domain transfers add 1 year onto your expiry date, so you don't lose any time you have paid for. There is one exception to this rule: If the domain was recently reactivated from an expired state, you will not get a year added to the expiry date.

7) Make sure the loosing registrar is aware you are moving the domain away. If the loosing registrar is not aware you are moving the domain away the may block the request even after you have approved it via the automated email.
